Surprisingly, this film is hailed as a representative film of the current generation a la Fight Club and Taxi Driver. I somehow could not find this claim true. For me, it was just another chick flick that tries hard to impress with its I’m-not-tryin-to-impress-you simplicity. Zach Braff’s depiction of a contemporary disillusioned mid-twenties guy is pretty impressive, but Natalie Portman bores with her blonde self-empathy.

On a positive note, this is a perfect Sunday afternoon fare, about growing up, familial conflicts, and sense of separation from the world.

Everyone’s saying different things to me, but I am OK with being unimpressive.
